Frequently Asked Questions
When will I own the camera?
You own the Cam iQ from day one!
How long does it take to install?
If you are installing the system yourself, it will take approximately 15 minutes to fit. You will be sent a video guide following your purchase.
If professional installation was selected / is required, we will be in touch to arrange a convenient time and date for our engineer to conduct the installation.
How long is the contract?
There is an initial 12 month commitment. After that, you are under no obligation. The monthly data tariff just rolls on, and we just need written confirmation of your cancellation.
Failure to pay will result in cancellation of the service. For ongoing council approval, subscription payments need to be maintained.
What does my monthly fee cover?
Your monthly fee covers cellular data costs, video storage fees, firmware upgrades and automatic crash notifications.
Can this help me if I have a collision?
Absolutely! Cam iQ is fitted with auto-generated alerts via crash detection sensors. In the event of a collision, Cam iQ will automatically upload footage leading up to and directly after the event to the cloud (accessible via the iOS/Android app). This may also be sent to our claims partner iRevolution Claims if you consented to this during the sign up process.
In the case of small scrapes, if a collision recording isn’t automatically uploaded, you can manually download the footage to your phone using the Trak+ app.
Is the claims assistance compulsory?
No, this is purely optional and at your discretion.
Is this compliant with my local council's guidelines?
Yes. If you follow our camera selection guide here, it will direct you to the camera compliant with your local council's guidelines.
Do I need to fit a SIM card?
No, the Cam iQ stores all footage and data in the cloud, so you do not need to manually install a SIM card. This makes the solution more secure and allows us to offer long-term storage.
What happens if I sell my car?
We can conduct a defit/refit if desired. Simply contact us here.
How do I access the footage?
As all footage is stored in the cloud, you can access this via the iOS/Android app. Footage is stored and accessible via three methods. Automatically in the event of a collision, manually using the panic button, or by logging into the app and manually requesting footage from a particular time/date. Panic button and crash footage is stored indefinitely.
Will the footage from my vehicle be shared with Bolt?
No, the camera is designed to improve your safety and provide helpful evidence in the event of a non-fault collision. Your footage will never be shared with Bolt.
How does the camera work?
When professionally installed, the camera is powered by the vehicle’s battery. Self-fitted cameras are powered by the 12V cigarette lighter in your vehicle (if you do not have one of these, professional installation is required).
The camera records footage on a loop and also has telemetry built-in, so you can monitor your driving style and behaviour via the app.
Can I fit the camera myself?
The camera is simple to install but some local councils require that it is hardwired by a professional engineer. Check here to find the relevant camera compliant with the rules your local authority.
Why do you need my ICO number?
As a self employed Bolt driver, registration with the ICO is required under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) before you can process passenger data via dashcam footage. Click here for more information.
What does the panic button do?
The panic button is a quick way of generating footage which is then stored in the cloud. This is in place to protect you.
How do I download the app?
Simply visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the Trak+ app. Once you have placed your order, we will be in touch with links to help download the relevant app. Click here for more information on the app.
What else does the app do?
The app also stores your journeys and give you a driver risk score based on your behaviour – this is private to you!
What if I have a problem with the camera or app?
Simply call our Support Desk on 0161 441 1001 between 0800-1800 Monday-Friday.
What if I only have one cigarette lighter?
If your local council does not require professional installation, you will be guided to buy one of our cameras for self-installation. This uses the cigarette lighter in the centre of your vehicle, if you have one, for power. If you currently use this to charge other devices, you can buy a splitter on Amazon.
Can Cam iQ be self-installed in any vehicle?
If your local council approves self-installation, Cam iQ can be installed in any vehicle with an available and functioning cigarette lighter.
