ICO Registration

What is the ICO?

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK's independent regulator for data protection and privacy.

How does the ICO affect me?

As a self employed Bolt driver, registration with the ICO is required under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) before you can process passenger data via dashcam footage.

As our camera solutions include internal recording (for your safety and security) and capture images of the passengers, they are subject to data protection laws, and you therefore must comply with regulations regarding the handling and storage of such data.

Overall, registering with the ICO is an important step to demonstrate your compliance with data protection laws, protect individuals' privacy rights, and avoid legal consequences.
