The Camera

Cam iQ includes both a forward-facing 160° lens camera which can assist with proving liability in the case of a collision, and an internal driver facing camera with infrared that protects you against false claims made by riders.

Our door-to-door professional installation ensures that Cam iQ is fitted at a time that suits you by one of our professional engineers. Thanks to this, Cam iQ is approved by all major councils (including Transport for London).

Cam iQ is equipped with 4G enabled connectivity meaning all storage is remotely based in the cloud, so nobody can tamper with your data. Only you have access to this as the camera is designed to keep you safe and protected.

Aside from auto-generated alerts via crash detection sensors, the Cam iQ also comes fitted with an SOS panic button as standard; so, if you witness an event, simply hit the SOS and the footage will automatically upload to the cloud. You can also retrieve historic footage via the iOS/Android app.

The camera is able to record audio, but is set to OFF as default in accordance with Local Authority laws. The only time we provide footage with audio is in the event of panic button footage. The camera has a red light which comes on when audio is being recorded so you can have peace of mind knowing the device isn’t listening.

Within the iOS/Android app, you can also monitor your journeys and driving style, and the latter can potentially be used to negotiate cheaper insurance based on your style of driving.

As a next generation device, the Cam iQ is also equipped with optional AI features such as an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) which can be switched on remotely by simply contacting us.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I own the camera?

You own the Cam iQ from day one!

How long does it take to install?

It will take approximately 30 minutes to fit. Once you have ordered your Cam iQ, we will be in touch to arrange a convenient time and date for our engineer to conduct the installation.

How long is the contract?

There is an initial 12 month commitment. After that, you are under no obligation. The monthly data tariff just rolls on, and we just need written confirmation of your cancellation.

Failure to pay will result in cancellation of the service. For ongoing council approval, subscription payments need to be maintained.

What does my monthly fee cover?

Your monthly fee covers cellular data costs, video storage fees, firmware upgrades and automatic crash notifications.

Can this help me if I have a collision?

Absolutely! The Cam iQ is fitted with auto-generated alerts via crash detection sensors. In the event of a collision, the Cam iQ will automatically upload footage leading up to and directly after the event to the cloud (accessible via the iOS/Android app) and will also be sent to our claims partner iRevolution Claims who will contact you to help.

In the case of small scrapes, if a collision recording isn’t automatically uploaded, you can manually download the footage to your phone using the Trak+ app.

Is the claims assistance compulsory?

No, this is purely optional and at your discretion.

Is this approved by my local council?

Click here to check for your local council.

Do I need to fit a SIM card?

No, the Cam iQ stores all footage and data in the cloud, so you do not need to manually install a SIM card. This makes the solution more secure and allows us to offer long-term storage.

What happens if I sell my car?

We can conduct a defit/refit if desired. Simply contact us here.

How do I access the footage?

As all footage is stored in the cloud, you can access this via the iOS/Android app. Footage is stored and accessible via three methods. Automatically in the event of a collision, manually using the panic button, or by logging into the app and manually requesting footage from a particular time/date. Panic button and crash footage is stored indefinitely.

How long does the footage last?

The Cam iQ stores footage on a loop of XX driving hours. Any footage downloaded will remain in the system indefinitely.

How does the camera work?

Powered by the vehicle’s battery, the camera records footage on a XXdriving hour loop. In addition to this, the camera also has telemetry built-in, so you can also monitor your driving style and behaviour via the app.

Can I fit the camera myself?

The camera is simple to install but some local councils require that it is hardwired by a professional engineer. Check here for the rules of your local authority.

Why do you need my ICO number?

Bolt input required.

What does the panic button do?

The panic button is a quick way of generating footage which is then stored in the cloud. This is in place to protect you.

How do I download the app?

Simply visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the Trak+ app. Once you have placed your order, we will be in touch with links to help download the relevant app.

What else does the app do?

The app also stores your journeys and give you a driver risk score based on your behaviour – this is private to you!

What if I have a problem with the camera or app?

Simply call our Support Desk on 0161 441 1001 between 0800-1800 Monday-Friday.
